Tree of Life I is a European jacquard wall tapestry. The artwork is by William Morris, 1834 – 1896. Despite his ambition to be a painter and his later reputation as writer, poet, publisher, political thinker and activist, Morris is most widely known as a designer of patterns in which he combines historical themes with floral patterns. This tree of life incorporates the medieval style of mille-fleurs.
