Fritz Hansen’s Mid Century Danish Black Swan Chairs Designed by Arne Jacobsen

This gorgeous pair of vintage mid century Danish modern black Swan chairs by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen were made in Denmark and produced in 2002. They feature a 4-star aluminum swivel base and black woven upholstery. Both chairs retain Fritz Hansen A/S, Made in Denmark 2002 manufacturer’s stickers and stamp on base. The “Swan” lounge chair was originally designed in 1958 by architect and designer Arne Jacobsen (Danish, 1902-1971) for the lobby of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark, a building he also designed. Along with Jacobsen’s “Egg” chair, the Swan, with its graceful and organic sculptural lines, has become one the most iconic chairs of mid-20th century Danish modern design.
